Information- Legro can be reached by car by setting Via Lunati Orta San Giulio on the navigator. For those staying in Orta it is possible to arrive by tourist train, but you can also reach Legro on foot or by bicycle. The distance is about 2 km from the square of Orta, and the route is uphill. Once you reach the Villa Crespi roundabout, continue straight ahead. Once you reach an elevated railway bridge, turn right and you will find all the signs.

Geographical description– Legro is located on the hills of Lake Orta and is a tiny fraction of the municipality of Orta San Giulio with around 400 inhabitants. To reach Legro from the holiday home on Lake Orta it only takes 5 minutes by car.

In the streets of Legro you can relive scenes from famous films which saw Lake Orta as the setting: "Il balordo", "L'amante segreta", "Una spina nel cuore", "La voglia di vincere", "Il piatto piange" e "La stanza del Vescovo".
One of the most important and appreciated frescoes by tourists is the one depicting "Riso amaro", a 1949 film by Giuseppe De Santis with Silvana Mangano and Vittorio Gassman, set in the Vercelli plain and along the banks of the Po.
“Riso amaro” tells the story of the seasonal pickers who came from all over Italy to work in the rice fields.
The authors of the works are established artists, both national and foreign, and students of some art high schools in the area.
The "colours" of the frescoes have also revived life, and Legro, a hamlet that seemed destined to suffer the "decadence" of the times, now every Sunday is the destination of a veritable procession of tourists, curious, enthusiasts, who swarm through the small streets.
Legro's is an itinerary that leads, adults and children, to the rediscovery of films that have made the history of cinema in our country. They are not just any films, but feature films which have chosen the lands of Lake Orta as a film set.

In addition to important cinematographic films shot right on the shores of the lake, the inspiration for the murals created in Legro are the verses of the works of the fellow poet Gianni Rodari, a writer and journalist famous for his imagination and originality, and who through stories, nursery rhymes and poems, have become many classic cases for children, has contributed to profoundly renewing children's literature.
